Winery

Goal
Design a modern regional winery, out of local materials, that includes production facilities, management offices, restaurant and public tasting spaces.

Challenge
Multifunctions create organizational flow issues that can stumble over each other and create a negative image for the public—a public the owners want to impress.

Solution
The upper level provides public access to the building, and the best views of the country side from the building.  The lower level is used for winery production and underground cellars.  Outdoor areas for concerts and weddings are included at the end of the building.

Locally made clay bricks, custom sized, include a date stamp and seal of the winery, similar to ancient Roman facilities.  The design includes solar, and rain water collectors, along with geothermal heating and cooling piping in the floors and walls.
