Sandpoint Country Club Residence

Goal
Remodel a Mid-century family home at Sandpoint Country Club into a modern contemporary home.

Challenge
The house was built in the 1950s with minimum connection to the outside. This new home was envisioned making a significant connection to the back yard adjacent to the golf course while still maintaining privacy.

Solution
The existing rear wall of the house was opened up with floor to ceiling windows and doors to provide an indoor/outdoor living experience in the rear yards adjacent to the golf course. Plantings were designed to provide privacy and security. A concrete fire wall was placed at the edge of the new terrace as a boundary marker while serving also as an evening site feature enjoyed from inside and outside of the house.
